The Chart module as the name suggests is module of the Trend software to analyze your charts. Imagine if you could plot studies, add line tools, run queries & get a customized report of your analysis all using one tool & this is exactly what the chart module does.
You can make a page of your own containing all the studies & the queries, which you need to run everyday for your analysis. You can also use a whole range of line tools to analyze the performance of scrip in the market.
Ans:
Click on ‘Shortcut to CH’ on the desktop.
On opening it you will find a list of categories
Select the category for which you want to view the chart
Out of this category select the group for which you want to view the chart
For e.g. if you want to view the chart of Reliance industries in BSE
Select category as Pre-defined, group as ‘BSE All Scrips’ & Scrip Name as ‘Reliance*’
OR
Click on Charting menu, click Select group & follow the procedure explained above.
OR
Click on Charting menu & click Select Company-By Name.
OR
If you want to simply switch over to another company from the same group, click on Charting & click Select Company-From Group.
Q.2 How do I add studies on the chart?
Ans:
Click on Studies menu select Add Favorite.
A list of studies will appear. Select the study you want to add.
It will ask you for the sub-graph on which you want to add this study.
Give the parameters of the study or you can also take up the default parameters provided in the software.
If you are unable to find the study you require then click on Studies menu & select Add Any.
Here you can find various categories in which the studies are divided & in these categories you can search for the required studies.
OR
Click the ‘S’ button located on the title bar of the chart.
Q.3 How do I remove the studies added on my page?
Ans:
Click on Studies menu & select ‘Remove Studies’
OR
Press ‘R’ from the keyboard.
Q.4 How do I save the page I have created?
Ans:
Go to Page menu & click on Save Page option.
To open your saved page you have to go to Page click on Load saved page.
OR
When you open the Chart module it will give you the list of pages you have created & you can load your desired page.
Q.5 How can I get the crossover points of short term moving average with long term moving average?
Ans:
Add Simple moving average for short term & long term on the chart as explained in Q.2
Press ‘Ctrl+V’ from the keyboard to run the query.
Select ‘Test/Qry’ & click on Test in the next window that appears.
As soon as you do this a list of all the studies that you have added on the chart will appear.
You have to select short term moving average from the list & then click on ‘Crossing a line’ out of the conditions displayed.
Now select the long term moving average out of the list of active studies & the direction in which you want to check the crossover.
‘U’ is for crossover in upward direction & ‘D’ is for crossover downward direction.
Now that you have finished adding the conditions press ‘Ok’, it will as you to add one more study click on ‘No’
If you wish to generate a report of the scrips that satisfy this condition press ‘X’ from the keyboard. This will display the query that you had just select
Click on this test condition, a window for ‘Test criteria’ will appear. You have to select the number of bars (No.Of days) for which you want to check this condition 7 click on ‘Ok’
You will be asked to run the report, click on ‘Yes’ to get the report which you can either save or print.
